On November 30, the GlobaLeaks project was invited by the European Commission, and in particular by the Group of Experts on the transposition of the whistleblowing directive, to present its experience gained in over ten years of work on the topic.
One of the main points on the agenda focused on good practices in the implementation of whistleblowing channels. We were joined there by colleagues from Transparency International Italia to present the joint WhistleblowingIT project, colleagues from the Transparency International secretariat and other international experts and Public Administrations, including the Valencian Anti-Fraud Authority (Spain) and the Italian Anti-Corruption Authority, both of them have been using Globaleaks for their reporting systems for some time.
As GlobaLeaks, we had the opportunity to present the results achieved by our lively community in 10 years of activity and we offered an analysis of the main use cases of the technology, ranging from its use in the public and private sector, up to supporting the work of investigative journalism and human rights protection organizations.
There are still many European countries that have not transposed the directive, and we hope that the Commission, thanks to this and other similar meetings, can collect useful experiences and suggestions to support states in adopting the best standards and practices spread at European and international level.
Here are the minutes of the meeting and the project presentation slides.
